Amba Estate

Amba is a social enterprise sitting at a thousand metres above the Ravana Ella waterfalls, run on a simple principle: if it grows here, it should leave here as a finished product rather than as raw material for somebody else’s factory.
The estate pioneered hand-rolled Ceylon tea, and the technique is still done entirely by hand by a team of nine, using only the top two leaves and the bud. The result is a small, irregular, deliberately unmechanical leaf that appears in specialist shops and restaurants overseas.
